Summary of report content

Healthwatch Salford undertook an Enter and View visit to Heath Cottage Care Home on 10 November 2022. They spoke to five residents and four members of staff.

Heath Cottage Care Home has a pleasant atmosphere, and the residents appear happy. The staff get on well with the manager, and there is a strong team of caring staff, several of whom have been working there for a long time. Several of the residents have also been at the home a long time and this has enabled good relationships with the residents.

The building appears slightly tired, both externally and internally, and the courtyard garden area does not appear to be looked after.

Residents generally don’t really feel like they can do activities they did before they came and said that they don’t go on out on trips unless a relative takes them shopping or for a meal.

The residents thought the staff were good and caring and generally felt that the staff had time to stop and chat and knew their likes and dislikes.

The report includes five recommendations to which the care home has responded.
