Summary of report content

Healthwatch Sheffield gather information on people’s experiences of health and social care services and there are times when it is appropriate for Healthwatch Sheffield to see and hear for themselves how services are being delivered: these visits are called ‘Enter and View’, they are not inspections.

Healthwatch Sheffield visited Haythorne Place on 16/03/2015.

The summary of findings highlighted areas in relation to patient feedback, staff feedback and observation. These findings informed they found staff showed committed to residents' well-being, are professionally competent, and had undergone regular and appropriate training the physical environment in some of the units was tired, and required updating Staff adapted to residents needs and wishes. There was also a broad programme of 'outings' and activities. staff changes have led to limited recent development of facilities, and activities for users.

The recommendations within the report state to engage with residents /relatives to influence the running of their home, and in designing a more stimulating environment for all. engage with the local community and community groups (including volunteers) to encourage more social interaction and activities for the residents.
