Summary of report content

Healthwatch Cumbria conducted an Enter and View on Harbour View Care Home, Cumbria, a privately owned care home. The visit was conducted on 2nd May 2017.

The visit was arranged as part of Healthwatch Cumbria's enter and view schedule.

Observation by the enter and view representatives reported that:

The home had well stocked and maintained gardens that overlooked Whitehaven harbour. In the home’s entrance porch there is a signing in book for visitors and a hand gel dispenser on the wall, both were clearly visible. The door was locked and operated by a buzzer system for security.

In the main entrance were 2 notice boards with information including the day’s activity, health and safety information and how to contact the Ombudsman.

The residents had good access to Healthcare services and the residents spoken too stated they had no problems seeing doctors, dentists when they needed too.

There was an activities coordinator and there seemed to be plenty of activities to join in with if they wished. Pastoral visits were also made by the local Anglican vicar. Holy communion was also available on a monthly basis..

Residents seemed satisfied with the meals that were provided.

Residents stated they were happy living at the home.
