Enter and View: Hadrian Park Care Home

On 20^th February 2020, Healthwatch Stockton-on-Tees undertook an Enter and View Report to Hadrian Park care home. They spoke to staff, residents and relatives, gathering feedback via surveys, one to one discussion and from observations made on the day.

Healthwatch staff reported that the home was light and airy, well decorated and there were no noticeable unpleasant odours; signage across the home was clear and appropriate to the needs of residents; residents’ bedrooms were highly personalised; there was a friendly atmosphere and staff and residents were observed to be interacting appropriately; residents enjoyed their activities; social activities being well publicised, with all residents being given a copy of the weekly programme.

This was a very positive visit and generally high levels of satisfaction with the service were expressed by residents and relatives. Most staff were generally very positive about the service provided and felt well supported in their roles. There were some exceptions to this however, and a couple of staff although positive about the service provided, did not feel as quite as well supported by the manager. Staff training appeared to be seen as a priority area within the home. As well as mandatory training several staff told us that they recently had training with regard to LGBTQ+ issues from a local charity.

The report made two recommendations about staffing levels and for the providers to consider meeting the emotional needs of residents. The report contains a response from the providers.
