On 25 January 2019, Healthwatch Havering visited two surgeries of the Greenwood Practice, one in the Ardleigh Green area of Havering, the other in Harold Wood. The former has a total of 6,171 patients on their list while the latter 5,601. Separate Healthwatch teams attended at each one.
The report states that at Ardleigh Green, the staff worked as a team in a happy and supportive environment, which was very good for the patients. Staff were trying hard to improve the Practice but felt frustrated that there was no consistency about the findings of various Care Quality Commission inspectors. The Harold Wood practice also appeared to be well-liked where both staff and patients were comfortable.
The report recommends several changes or additions to current practice. This included designating one GP for patients over 70 years; allocate an early/late set of appointments for working people who require a routine appointment; avoid overcrowded notice boards; publicise the Patient Participation Group (PPG) to the patients; more disabled parking spaces at the Ardleigh Green surgery; provide more off-street parking for disabled patients at Harold Wood surgery; urgently replace the worn-out seating and carpet at Ardleigh Green surgery; make the Practice Information Leaflet more easily readable.
