A key aspect of this E&V programme is to focus on a care provider’s stated values and consider whether these are true in terms of the life experiences of visitors and relatives.
Consequently, the visit focused on activities and food. However, in reality the report does cover multiple issues. The aim of this ethos is to ensure that residents can enjoy a fulfilling life with the expectation of seeing relatives, carers and other visitors being involved with the home and encouraged to take part in opportunities relating to the lives of the residents.
The report is largely from observation and discussions with staff but does state ‘the team also spent time speaking with residents and relatives’ but it is unclear how many.
It makes a number of recommendations around upgrading facilities; improving activities; infection control; staffing and staff retention and includes a brief response from the provider
