Healthwatch Tower Hamlets gather information on people’s experiences of health and social care services and there are times when it is appropriate for Healthwatch Tower Hamlets to see and hear for themselves how services are being delivered: these visits are called ‘Enter and View’, they are not inspections.
Healthwatch Tower Hamlets visited Gerry Bennett Ward (Mile End Hospital) on 24th February 2015.
The summary of findings highlighted areas in relation to patient feedback, staff feedback and observation. The findings inform the majority of patients that were able to provide feedback on the day of our visit generally spoke positively about the ward, some of the patients have mentioned that they feel that they get well cared for by the staff; they like the staff and feel that the ward staff are doing their utmost to help them with their recovery. A few of the patients mentioned that they like the environment of the ward (i.e. its bright and clean) and some of the patients also mentioned that they liked the food and feel the menu options available are good.
The report includes 2 recommendations. These include themes in relation to call bell/buzzers and consistency of staff.
