Healthwatch Leicester and Leicestershire carried out an Enter and View visit to Foxton Grange, a nursing and residential care home with places for up to 36 older people with early to advanced dementia care needs. The home was evaluated against five key quality indicators: strong, visible management; staff with the time and skills to do their jobs; a varied programme of activities; quality, choice and flexibility around food and mealtimes; and ensuring residents can regularly see health professionals such as GPs, dentists, opticians or chiropodists.
Based on the findings of the Enter and View representatives, Healthwatch Leicester and Leicestershire made two recommendations, for Foxton Grange to:
- Ensure the waste storage areas within the grounds of the home are maintained safely and securely.
- Endeavour to recruit a senior management team for the home as soon as possible - including a registered home manager and a deputy manager.
The report includes a response from the service provider.
