On 30th October 2019, Healthwatch Peterborough undertook an Enter and View visit to Field House Residential Care Home which is a home to around 49 people, most of whom live with some element of dementia. The home was in a period of change as new service providers had recently taken over and the Manager was developing ways of working that will benefit the residents’ overall care, including recruitment of new staff and a staff training programme.
They found that the home was clean, safe and uncluttered; the environment was mostly dementia-friendly; residents had access to healthcare professionals such as GPs, community nurses, opticians and chiropodists; residents were very happy with the quality of food and that the home met people’s cultural preferences. Areas for further improvement were also identified which included lack of comfortable lounging area, unclear information about activities available for the residents, no regular visiting audiology service and no visiting dental service.
The report made 15 recommendations to which the providers responded with a 14 point action plan which was published separately.
