Enter and view: Fairways Care Home

Healthwatch North East Lincolnshire carried out an Enter and View visit to Fairways Care Home on 8 May 2019. Fairways is a residential care home with space for up to 55 people.

The Enter and View representatives found that: the home offered a diverse and comprehensive range of activities to keep residents engaged and encourage them to feel connected to the local community - these activities and residents' artwork were clearly displayed throughout the home; staff responded well to residents' needs with care and empathy; the home had an open and proactive approach tp responding to residents' and relatives' recommendations; the home had clearly considered the need to easily identify both staff and residents. Residents spoken to appeared clean, well-dressed and happy, and relatives spoken to spoke positively about the care their loved ones received at the home.

Healthwatch North East Lincolnshire made five recommendations around: ensuring residents have access to a range of healthy snacks; considering provision of additional refreshment stations; using pictoral menu boards; considering the addition of a designated smoking area for residents; and ensuring security processes are in place to prevent residents 'tailgating' visitors out of the building. The report contains a positive response from the service provider.
