Healthwatch Coventry conducted an announced Enter and View visit to Evedale Care Home in November 2019. The home provides residents with nursing or personal care, Dementia, Mental health conditions, treatment of disease, disorder or injury, Caring for adults over 65 yrs. Information was collected from 9 residents, 2 visitors and 5 members of staff.
The report found that although staff were busy, they performed their duties calmly and supportively. Residents were largely satisfied with their care at the home and felt listened to. No activities were seen, and residents only completed activities on their own rather than in groups with additional support. It was apparent that call bells were constantly ringing, disrupting other residents. Some residents reported that they were experiencing difficulties in accessing healthcare from services such as podiatry and opticians.
Nine recommendations were made about responsiveness, noise levels, activities, independence and support, healthcare, communication, dementia friendly adaptations, temperature control and disabled access.
The service provider responded to each of the recommendations.
