In May 2017, Healthwatch Warrington carried out an enter and view visit to the Eric Moore Partnership Medical Practice with a view to looking at GP access.
Healthwatch Warrington made the decision to visit GP practices within the borough; with a focus on access and the general environment of surgeries. This is because access to primary care services (mainly GPs) was identified as a recurrent theme from public feedback.
During the visit, they spoke with the Practice Manager, Assistant Practice Manager and a Patient Participation Group Member, in addition to which they received survey responses from 7 patients.
The report states that the visiting teams overall impression was of a well-run surgery, offering good facilities, with staff taking a proactive approach to patient centred-care; resulting in a positive atmosphere. This was reflected in the majority of the patient feedback collected from the survey responses and informal conversations on the day.
Three recommendations were made within the report as follows:
• Review External Signage and Non-automatic Doorway
• Install Hand Sanitiser Near Entrance
• Build upon and Share Good Practice:
The report contains a response from the Practice Manager which provides clarity on what can be requested and achieved as a result of the report, and what is outside their jurisdiction in terms of building alterations in a leased environment.
