Healthwatch Cheshire East conducted and announced enter and view visit to The Elms residential home on 11 May 2015. The team engaged with 3 staff members, 7 residents and 2 relatives using survey methods and noted their observations to inform the report.
The home was found to be a clean, bright establishment with good facilities and care. The team observed a culture of openness and choice for residence. Staff communicated well with each other and with residents, they promoted resident independence and mobility and provided stimulation and social activities. Relatives were pleased with the home and were happy that they could attend meetings and get involved in activities with the residents. Residents praised staff and the flexibility of the activities provided, suggesting that they could be changed if residents did not like them. They told the team that they are very happy in the home.
