Healthwatch Hackney gather information on people’s experiences of health and social care services and there are times when it is appropriate for Healthwatch Hackney to see and hear for themselves how services are being delivered: these visits are called ‘Enter and View’, they are not inspections.

Healthwatch Hackney visited the Elderly Care Unit At Homerton University Hospital on 16 February 2018.

The summary of findings highlighted areas in relation to patient feedback, staff feedback and observation. Healthwatch Hackney found the mood of staff in the ward seemed good. Most patients expressed satisfaction with treatment they had received. Most patients felt communications with staff were good and timely. Overall patients rated the ward 4/5.

Healthwatch Hackney made 18 recommendations in relation to infection isolation rooms, obstacles in corridors, fire exit signs, ward transfer, meal cards, information about staff and reading materials.
