Summary of report content

Healthwatch Bracknell Forest and Healthwatch Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead undertook an enter and view visit to Dormy Care Home on 3 and 5 June 2024.  They wanted to understand what is working well with the service and what could be improved.  They spoke to 8 friends or relatives and 17 members of staff.

Key findings

Dormy is well run; staff are busy and enjoy their roles and working as a team. The change of manager has had a positive effect and the staff feel more empowered and relationships have improved since her arrival.

There are a number of areas for residents and residents to sit in to provide more privacy and quiet, if needed. Relatives felt welcomed by staff.

Staff are aware of hydration needs.

Relatives felt that food was good and dietary preferences were taken into account.

Impact – making a difference

Multiple changes have been made since the new manager arrived and Healthwatch recommendations mainly centred around making positive changes for those with dementia.
