Enter and view: The Court Care Home

Healthwatch Wirral carried out an Enter and View visit to The Court Care Home in June 2026. The home provides residential care for older and younger adults, including people living with dementia, and had 13 residents at the time of the visit. Overall, Healthwatch found the home to be welcoming, clean and well cared for, with positive interactions observed between staff, residents and visitors. Residents appeared comfortable and spoke positively about the support they received, the food and their living environment. 

The home was observed to have dementia-friendly features, including personalised bedroom doors, pictorial signage and menu cards to support residents’ choices. Staff appeared attentive and respectful, and residents reported feeling safe and cared for. The home had regular GP input, access to chiropody services, healthcare support and a programme of refurbishment and environmental improvements. Relatives who spoke to Healthwatch were positive about the care their family members received.

Healthwatch identified a number of environmental and operational issues. These included the need to update signage, prompt visitors to use hand sanitiser, improve ventilation in one bedroom, address stained furniture and trailing wires, ensure bathroom supplies were routinely checked, deep clean and repair parts of the kitchen, and improve aspects of the emergency evacuation and safety arrangements. The home was also encouraged to undertake “Dip Or Not To Dip” training relating to urinary tract infection management. 

Healthwatch concluded that The Court Care Home provides a positive and supportive environment where residents appear well looked after and staff are committed to their wellbeing. Recommendations focused mainly on environmental maintenance, infection prevention measures, staff training and safety improvements. The provider responded positively, confirming that actions had already begun to address the issues identified during the visit.
