Healthwatch Bedford Borough conducted an Enter and View visit to Bushmead Court Residential Home on 1 April 2015. The team spoke with residents about the care they receive and how they find living in the home using survey methods and noted their observations made throughout the visit.
The residents indicated that they were happy with their care and that staff treated them with dignity and respect. The team reported that the physical environment of the home was welcoming and well kept. A range of activities were on offer to the residents, however, it was reported that they were not often well attended.
The report made two recommendations. The team suggested that the home should gather resident feedback about the activities they would like to attend, and for the home’s management team to be made aware of Healthwatch Bedford’s role and purpose.
The report included a response from the service provider. The home’s manager suggested that feedback about activities is already collected on a 6 monthly basis.
