Healthwatch Warwickshire did an announced Enter and View visit to Bidford on Avon Health Centre, a newly built centre, on 2nd November 2015. There was a large car park with ample spaces and provision for disabled parking and an excellent bus service (busses every half an hour). Internally the surgery had excellent decoration and a high standard of cleanliness.
The Healthwatch Enter and View team found the surgery met all their observational criteria. The electronic system screen was available in both English and Polish. The surgery had a very active PPG and the names of the GPs and staff working there was displayed. The buss timetable was displayed in the reception and waiting room.
The questionnaire asked the patients attending the surgery about appointments, access, parking, signage, staff attitudes, cleanliness and the quality of care amongst other things. One patient rated the surgery opening hours as poor as “No evenings and weekends.”
Almost all respondents rated the surgery as good in involving them with decisions about their care. However, one respondent commented “Sometimes I feel I am ‘dismissed’, not listened to. Too rushed.”
The report makes several recommendations. The report includes a response from the surgery about actions taken.
