Healthwatch Hampshire conducted an Enter and View on Belmont Castle, a privately owned residential care home in Bedhampton, Havant, catering for 36 older people at present, including people with dementia and physical disabilities, who do not require nursing care.
The visit was conducted on 21st July 2017.
It is a home with a 40 bed capacity. The visit was arranged as part of Healthwatch Hampshire's enter and view schedule.
Observation by the enter and view representatives reported that:
Belmont Castle achieved a very high Healthwatch observation rating meaning the home ‘Exceeds Expectations’ and that both the physical environment and the social environment are progressing to a very high position compared to many other care settings. The care home missed out on achieving the very highest rating of ‘Excellent’ by just one point!.
Healthwatch Hampshire made 11 recommendations in the report.
The service provider responded to the recommendations and agreed with all of them intimating changes will be made as recommended.
