Summary of report content

Healthwatch Barking and Dagenham undertook an  Enter and View visit to Barking Urgent Treatment Centre on 15 April 2026 to gather patient feedback about access, waiting times, communication, environment, and overall care experience. They spoke to 12 people.

Overall findings were positive. Patients consistently described clinical staff as polite, respectful, reassuring, and attentive. Most respondents reported feeling listened to and confident in the care provided. Cleanliness standards were generally viewed positively.

However, several areas for improvement were identified:

  • inconsistent communication about waiting times,
  • frustration relating to delays and patient flow,
  • inconsistent reception experiences,
  • concerns regarding seating comfort and privacy at reception.

The visit also identified examples of good practice, including multilingual information displays, accessible facilities, visible patient feedback mechanisms, and strong interpersonal care from clinicians.
