Healthwatch Cheshire East conducted an Enter and View visit on 22 August 2022 at Astbury Lodge Care Home.
Astbury Lodge has capacity to care for 41 residents, particularly those with dementia, physical disability, or old age. At the time of the visit there were 37 residents.
The building is well signposted and there is a high standard of cleanliness throughout the building. Some areas could have more updated furnishings. There are well-furnished communal spaces, although these are not utilised as much due to Covid.
Throughout the building there are pictures that would be of interest to residents and menu choices are displayed in the dining room. The residents’ rooms – while small – are clean and residents can personalise with their own decorations and furniture. There are two garden areas which are in need of maintenance and tidying.
There are planned activities each week which are displayed on a board; however, some activities would not be interesting to all residents.
The report concluded with some suggestions for the home which mainly focused on general maintenance of the building and outdoor spaces and improve the range of activities and outings available for residents. The residents all appeared happy and well cared for at the time of the visit.
