Healthwatch Sunderland conducted an Enter and View visit in October 2019 to Ashwood Court residential home. The home supports 30 residents aged 18 and over with enduring mental ill health. The representative spoke to 12 residents, relatives and staff during the visit.
The report found that the home was clean and tidy. Residents and relatives praised the management and the staff at the home. It was felt that staff knew residents very well and their religious and cultural needs were met. The home offered a range of activities but some residents felt their could be more in the afternoons. Residents reported that the food was good and their was a wide choice. Other health professionals were able to visit the residents in the home. Residents and relatives reported that they felt comfortable giving feedback and raising complaints.
