Enter and View: Alexandra Care Home

Healthwatch St Helens undertook an Enter & View visit to Alexandra Care Home which provides nursing, respite and palliative care as well as a residential facility to 43 residents currently. The report outlines the findings of the visit which includes unsatisfactory building facilities with poor hygiene and cleanliness; low staffing levels and not much staff support from regional management, although current staff were professional, caring and open; limited use of IT which affects communication with staff; adequate recreation and leisure activities available to the residents; variety in food and refreshments available to the residents however the dining room was cold and unwelcoming; lack of dementia-friendly menu display; inadequate privacy for the residents. The report made four recommendations with response to two from the providers.
