Summary of report content

Healthwatch Lewisham wanted to understand the experiences of children and young people in relation to their emotional wellbeing.  They devised a survey to which 44 children and young people responded.

Nearly 3 in 5 felt they would benefit from support for their emotional wellbeing.  Nearly 2 in 5 would prefer to access this support face to face.

Over two thirds had sought some form of support for their mental health.  Over two thirds weren’t familiar with the Kooth service.

Over half wanted to hear more about mental health support via online methods.

The two most important aspects of mental health services for young people were short waiting times and being to access a service 24/7.

The report contains 4 recommendations.
