Summary of report content

The Healthwatch Humber Network (referred to as ‘the HHN’ hereafter) is a collaboration of the four local Healthwatch teams, Healthwatch Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire

This is an Enter and View report from the Humber Network of the emergency departments at Hull Royal Infirmary, Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, and Scunthorpe General Hospital.

Four visits were undertaken per hospital, all in November 2021. The aim was to understand:

  • Why patients have come to their local ED.
  • Whether patients were aware of alternative options for treatment.
  • What the experience was like of patients when using ED services and how the service provided could be improved in the future.
