Summary of report content

Healthwatch Bucks undertook an Enter & View visit to Southernwood Care Home on 8 August 2019.  This care currently provides residential care for 5 men who live with a learning disability, several of whom are non-verbal. The authorised representatives talked to 1 resident and 2 members of staff. they observed a further 4 residents.

Findings

Healthwatch Bucks had concerns about the following:

  • The way in which staff treated residents
  • the limited choice that residents appeared to have over aspects of their lives
  • Limited activities available both inside and outside the home.

Healthwatch Bucks make a number of detailed recommendations to address the issues they observed on their visit.
