Summary of report content

Healthwatch Stoke-on-Trent undertook a survey of access to NHS dentistry after finding that much of their insight was on this topic.  They heard from 104 people.

Nearly two thirds hadn’t received NHS dentistry during the last two years.  One in five were able to get all their treatment at the NHS banding costs.

Seven in ten weren’t able to receive NHS dental treatment.  Over half felt that NHS dental costs were very unfair.

Nearly three quarters reported that it was either hard or very hard to get an appointment for NHS dental treatment.

Over three in ten felt that they were put off seeking NHS dental treatment as often as recommended or would only do so if they had toothache.

The report has two recommendations about communication and patient registration.
