Summary of report content

Healthwatch Harrow investigated the issues people have faced during the UK lockdown due to COVID-19. 118 people provided feedback via a survey.

The report found that people thought that interacting with others and receiving personal care were the most important to them. Additionally, people were concerned about their mobility and social isolation with comment about stimulation during "lockdown." People reported being able to use technology to interact with family, although some older people commented how much they missed family members, especially if they formerly had a caring role. Working from home has increased people's anxiety, especially balancing home schooling children and a lack of routine. People with gardens appear to be happier with their situation. There is a sense of ‘community spirit’, with genuine concern for the elderly and vulnerable. Residents living in sheltered accommodation comment on ‘looking out for each other’ while neighbours offer mutual support.

Healthwatch Harrow are aware that there is a real issue across North West London on how to gather the views of those people that do not have access to the internet and are working to identify alternative methods of doing this.
