Summary of report content

Between March and July 2020, 338 people completed Healthwatch Solihull’s survey. A further 53 people offered feedback unsolicited.

75% of people found it easy to find clear, understandable information about the COVID-19 pandemic.

A main concern for respondents was being able to see a GP face to face, with many facing difficulties making appointments due to the move to online or telephone booking systems.

Many people felt that the pandemic has negatively impacted their mental health and feeling like there was very little support available.

Healthwatch Solihull recommend that shielding advice needs to be clearer; some people who were clinically vulnerable never received a letter telling them to shield. They also recommend that patient pathways through the health care system are clearer, and communication with GP surgeries is improved.
