Summary of report content

Healthwatch Wiltshire have evaluated the insight that they have gathered related to COVID-19. Between the 4th May & 17th May, 33 people responded about the impact of coronavirus on health and care services.

They found that people are finding it difficult to access information about a variety of areas, including mental health support, changes to social care, and managing existing conditions. Respondents reported feeling anxious for loved ones in care homes that had coronavirus sufferers. Some adults who organised care through direct payments were having difficulties. People commented that the pandemic has had an impact on their mental health and that the majority of people were not receiving support. GP communication was perceived to be excellent, with positive feedback about online consultations. Carers appreciated Wiltshire Council’s letter of thanks to unpaid carers. People were having difficulty accessing emergency dental treatment as appointments had been cancelled or postponed. All respondents had been able to access the medication they required. Voluntary organisations were praised for providing support to isolated people and it was suggested that this should continue after the pandemic.
