Healthwatch Lincolnshire undertook a survey in April 2020 to find out how people were coping in the Covid-19 pandemic. This report is about the results for 6 – 12 April. During this week they received 340 responses.
The survey looked at the socio-economic status of the respondents, whether people had had Covid-19, how they were feeling, the ease of finding information, and whether this had helped them adapt to a new way of life, the impact of the pandemic on the quality of care received, people’s three biggest concerns and what action they wanted the authorities to take to deal with these.
An analysis of the results revealed the following themes:
- A concern above all else for those who were vulnerable and weak
- A concern for peoples own wellbeing and that of their families and loved ones
- Frustration at mixed and negative messages being given through fake news, media and local and government sources.
- Frustration and concern about the impact on new or existing health and care issues outside of COVID-19.
- Frustration and concern for the lack of support systems within primary care, secondary care and mental health.
- Mixed tolerance levels for how the community is reacting to lock down restrictions and how they are being enforced.
Healthwatch Lincolnshire are continuing with the survey and will publish further reports.
