Summary of report content

Healthwatch Staffordshire collected feedback relating to people's experiences of various NHS services during the pandemic. 

The report found that communication with families was poor during hospital admission. Mixed experiences were reported with GP services with digital consultations and being in regular contact. People reported difficulties accessing urgent dental care. Overall, feedback on maternity services have been positive with reports of extremely good care. More negative feedback was received around partners not being able to attend scans and lack of follow-up support. In relation to mental health services, there are some reports of delays in receiving support or cancellation of services or therapies which are negative. Feedback about telephone / video support and consultations is overall quite positive. There are some negatives around difficulty in making contact with services. For those whose cancer treatment has been halted, this has created a lot of anxiety and fear and at the time that these reports were made there was a lack of information about when and if treatments might be able to be re-started. The main issues around domiciliary care centre on either a reduction in the amount of visits made or the unsuitability of the carers provided. Healthwatch received calls from people who were concerned about their employment and safe working conditions.
