In 2016, Healthwatch Isles of Scilly conducted a survey into community drug and alcohol issues and the support services available to their residents and communities. The purpose of the survey was to support the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Drug and Alcohol Action Team evaluation of services.
The survey received 30 survey responses. The summary report was forwarded to the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Drug and Alcohol Action Team along with all individual comments.
In summary, the people who responded shared a concern about a culture of social acceptance of excessive drinking, or drug use, in the Isles of Scilly. Many expressed worries about the effects of this culture on children and young people and in turn how to tackle adult behaviours to reduce the impact.
Although the report was forwarded to the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Drug and Alcohol Action Team there was no response included within the report.
