Summary of report content

Healthwatch Leeds were asked to carry out engagement work in the three pilot areas for a new approach to community mental health to hear from people who would be using the service and their carers. Their reflections and ideas will be fed into the development of the new model. They undertook a survey to which 421 people responded.

People were asked which three things they thought were important to consider when developing the new service.  While there were common themes that emerged across all areas, there were also clear differences across the three areas.

There was also a similar finding to the question about what would encourage them to become an active partner in designing the service.

In response to the final question, people most often commented that they would be pleased to see a new approach to mental health being rolled out in Leeds, especially if it is more holistic. However, specific ideas were more prevalent in certain locations.

The report contains 15 recommendations.
