Summary of report content

Healthwatch Tower Hamlets analysed 116 local WhatsApp groups that were organised to offer mutual aid in local communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

They found that the main functions of these WhatsApp groups were to offer or request practical help, and to organise the provision of food to vulnerable residents.

Between April and June 2020, Healthwatch Tower Hamlets conducted a survey with 385 respondents on experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic. 25% of respondents used local mutual aid WhatsApp groups.
