Summary of report content

Healthwatch Manchester undertook research to find out people’s experiences of accessing Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).

The research showed a disparity between the information they received in their Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and the experiences outlined by their respondents, particularly around waiting times.

They found that their respondents’ overall sentiment towards the service was negative. One area that received a lot of negative feedback was the transition process out of the service, with several respondents feeling that they were simply dropped by the system once they reached the age limit.

It was difficult for Healthwatch to secure support from local schools when they attempted to engage them on this issue. They heard back from only one teacher anonymously.
