Healthwatch Liverpool listening event at Broadgreen Hospital, where feedback was collected from 58 patients and visitors across inpatient wards and outpatient departments. Overall satisfaction was high, with 91% rating the hospital 4 or 5 stars and an average score of 4.49 out of 5. Most respondents felt well informed about their treatment and believed staff had enough time to care for them.
The main strengths identified were the professionalism, friendliness and caring attitude of staff, alongside the cleanliness of the hospital. Patients frequently praised the support provided by nurses and doctors, the quality of communication and the clean, welcoming environment.
The main areas for improvement were car parking, waiting times and appointment cancellations. Respondents highlighted difficulties finding parking spaces, concerns about parking charges and delays for outpatient appointments and operations. A small number also felt staffing pressures sometimes affected the service.
Overall, the hospital was viewed positively, with most people finding it accessible and easy to navigate. However, some concerns were raised about signage and nearly one-third of inpatients had not been given an estimated discharge date. In response, The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust welcomed the findings and committed to focusing on improvements to discharge information, signage and parking.
