Summary of report content

This is a report by Healthwatch Manchester. Healthwatch Manchester reviewed GP websites in order to compare with their previous review in 2021.

Following a look at 73 websites the results were as follows:

  • Out of the 20 areas of comparison investigated, only 5 of these areas showed improvement and these were only slight 
  • improvements. 
  • Out of the 20 areas of comparison investigated, 10 of these areas showed a decrease in their scoring with 8 showing a 
  • significant difference.
  • Out of the 20 areas of comparison investigated, 5 of these areas remained the same in their scoring.
  • The key areas regarding accessibility i.e. making an appointment and navigating around the system showed a decrease in scoring.
  • Statutory / Contractual compliance remain low.
  • Compliance with the NHS Accessible Information Standard remains low overall.

There are recommendations in the report.

  • Access to information for infection control, health and wellbeing and other language availability
  • Ease of navigation around the system including making and cancelling appointments
  • Compliance with the NHS Accessible Information Standard
  • Compliance with all other statutory and contractual compliance e.g. an active Patient Participation Group
