Following the introduction of the Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK) Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STP), local Healthwatch within the BLMK footprint, conducted a snapshot survey in June 2017, using a short questionnaire to determine whether local people were aware of the plans for their area.
Local Healthwatch across the BLMK footprint widely distributed the survey during the period June to September 2017, and spoke with over 345 people representing the four areas- Luton (90), Milton Keynes (150), Bedford Borough (42) and Central Bedfordshire (64).
The findings of the survey showed that majority of the respondents were unaware of the new plans but were interested to find out more. Although they were interested to attend a public event about the STP, they preferred hearing about the plans more from the Healthwatch network, online media, local press and public events.
Based on the findings, local Healthwatch in the BLMK area recommended that further communication and engagement should be conducted, so that those who use health and care services within their locality are aware of any changes as they take place.
The report includes 4 recommendations. The report does not include a response from the provider.
