Summary of report content

Healthwatch Bradford report on its key achievements for 2025/26.  It:

  • Led important work with Gypsy, Traveller and Roma communities, undertaking a health needs assessment and stakeholder conference that improved understanding of barriers to screening, vaccination and healthcare access, and has already influenced improvements in demographic data recording and partnership working.
  • Influenced the redesign and relaunch of pulmonary rehabilitation services across West Yorkshire by gathering views from around 250 residents, leading directly to service renaming, new branding and improved public communication.
  • Improved accessibility and inclusion by working with people with learning disabilities, neurodivergent people and community partners to shape accessible information, co-produce services and develop an all-age Co-production Charter adopted by local health and care partners.
  • Helped tackle digital exclusion through work with Primary Care Networks, delivering digital skills support and helping patients become more confident using online healthcare services and the NHS App.
  • Amplified the voices of less-heard communities, including Gypsy, Traveller and Roma communities, Latin American migrants and refugees, LGBTQI+ people, people with learning disabilities and neurodivergent residents, ensuring their experiences influenced local decision-making.
  • Improved access to information, advice and support, helping residents navigate GP services, social care, hospital transport, respiratory health screening and wider health services, while also influencing improvements to respiratory health access for people with learning disabilities.
  • Strengthened public influence in health and care planning locally and across West Yorkshire through work on neighbourhood health, self-management of health, non-emergency patient transport, health inequalities and wider Integrated Care Board decision-making.
