Healthwatch Kingston upon Thames report on their key achievements for 2022/23. It:
- Published 10 reports containing 81 recommendations, with the bereavement services report becoming its most influential piece of work. Findings were used by the South West London Integrated Care Board to shape future bereavement support and end-of-life care services across Kingston and beyond.
- Influenced local and regional health strategies through reports on bereavement, Long Covid, diabetes, ME/CFS/Fibromyalgia and access to services. Findings informed the South West London Integrated Care Strategy, Joint Forward Plan, Carers Strategy and Kingston Joint Strategic Needs Assessment.
- Completed a major Care Workforce Wellbeing project, gathering feedback from over 100 care workers and producing recommendations on pay, travel time, workplace wellbeing and support for the social care workforce.
- Strengthened the voice of people with learning disabilities through the Kingston All Ages Learning Disability Partnership Board, engaging over 100 people in community events focused on health, wellbeing and the cost-of-living crisis, and supporting people to influence local services and consultations.
- Continued to play a key role in mental health service improvement by independently monitoring the South West London Community Mental Health Transformation Programme, supporting development of the South West London Mental Health Strategy, and raising concerns about waiting times and access to specialist support.
- Enabled young people to shape local services through Youth Out Loud!, including reviewing the new Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Directory, producing sexual health resources, and creating information and support content for young people.
- Influenced local and London-wide safeguarding practice through the Making Safeguarding Personal project and the London Safeguarding Voices programme, ensuring people with lived experience helped shape safeguarding policies, procedures and resources.
