Healthwatch Bradford report on its key achievements for 2022/23. It:
- Influenced the development of virtual hospital services at Bradford Teaching Hospitals by gathering feedback from inpatients, outpatients and the public, leading to recommendations on how virtual care should be introduced and used alongside face-to-face services.
- Led work with Bangladeshi and Pakistani communities on attitudes towards NHS vaccines. The findings were commissioned by NHS England and used to inform engagement approaches with communities at risk of lower vaccine uptake.
- Helped drive system-wide improvements following a Learning Summit into the care of a mental health service user, leading to actions on carer involvement, discharge planning, information sharing, workforce development and more joined-up care.
- Played a leading role in the development of West Yorkshire Voice, a new regional people’s panel designed to ensure residents can influence health and care decision-making across West Yorkshire.
- Supported the development of a district-wide conversation about death, dying and bereavement, including an event attended by over 100 people with learning disabilities, family carers, clinicians and support workers.
- Worked closely with local communities through the Listen In programme, taking health and care leaders directly into communities across Bradford district to hear residents’ experiences and identify priorities for improvement.
- Continued to raise concerns about GP access and NHS dentistry, using public feedback to inform local health and care leaders and shape future improvement work.
