Summary of report content

This is Healthwatch Rutland’s annual report for 2019-20 which highlights their resources and the way they have engaged and supported more people during this time. They had the support of 16 volunteers; they engaged with 362 people and provided them support; and reached out too many more people via the social media platforms.

They made a difference by looking into the health and social care needs of the armed forces community to help them better access suitable mental health support, for both veterans and serving personnel. They also looked into people’s experiences of care at the GP surgery, urgent care centres and experiences of emergency ambulance services. They also helped raise the voices of local people with regards to the proposed reconfiguration of acute services at University Hospital of Leicester NHS Trust. In response do their strong representation, the Clinical Commissioning Group responsible for consultation Committed to provide additional information with regards to the changes. The report also highlights Healthwatch Rutland's contributions towards the NHS Long Term Plan.

The report contains a message from Healthwatch Rutland manager and highlights their priorities for the next year which includes completing work on how people’s health and care has been affected during the pandemic, maximising public engagement on proposals to reconfigure Leicester's hospitals, understanding patient experiences of communication and administration within and between the different services and understanding how young people access and experience sexual health services in Rutland.
