Healthwatch Brent's annual report sums up the priorities and actions that it has been involved with in the year 2016/17. This year, Healthwatch Brent did 9 Enter & View visits, had 700 plus friends of Healthwatch, gained 1200 twitter followers, reached 2000 people via public engagement events, presented around 1000 views to statutory partners, and presented 10 reports to the Health and Wellbeing Board, Brent CCG Governing Board and the Children's Trust.
HW Brent's priorities set for 2016/2017 were as follows: setting PPG groups, capturing women's experience of maternity, engaging with Black and Asian communities about health and social care, receiving feedback about hospital discharge, consulting with children and young people about health care with a focus on mental health, and exploring the user experience of Adult safeguarding. The team attended around 70 events this year and heard from over 2000 residents listening to their experience of health and social care. The report gives details about how these priorities were reached. HW also liaises with the key local partners and has been regularly attending meetings with them.
Healthwatch Brent is also a member of the Brent Sustainability and Transformation Plan Steering Group. As part of the Community Chest project, Healthwatch Brent aimed to understand the experience of Eastern European communities using urgent care services, learn about the Irish young travellers accessing statutory services and identify young carers living in households where parents misuse substance.
The report also includes the financial statement explaining how the funds are used to deliver Healthwatch activities.
