Summary of report content

Healthwatch Newcastle on Tyne report on its key achievements during 2014/15:

  • Gathering feedback through community events, outreach work, information stalls, targeted engagement with seldom-heard groups, and its information/signposting service.
  • Held its first social care conference, “There’s More to Healthwatch than Health”, in March 2015
  • Healthwatch commissioned Children North East to create a young people’s participation group. This group identified priorities such as GP waiting times, easier access to services, mental health support, and dental services.
  • A further survey involving 274 young people explored experiences of dental services and led to a published report.
  • They influenced change on a wide variety of topics, including GP complaints, mental health service redesign and eating disorder services
