Summary of report content

Healthwatch Islington undertook research on local people’s experience of the Covid-19 pandemic.  This included 180 local residents from migrant communities, who found it difficult to follow government guidance as it wasn’t accessible to them, and this was having an impact on other local organisations, who couldn’t operate as normal due to lockdown restrictions.

Healthwatch Islington worked with other local organisations to develop a project to support migrant communities during the period June to August 2020.  This report outlines the project activities and findings and the impact the project had on the local community.

Activities included an information resource; one to one support for residents and online events.  Altogether they reached 1,698 residents.

Key issues identified included:

  • Advice on cleaning the home safely
  • Access to wellbeing services
  • Shopping and Covid
  • Access to health and care services
  • Social isolation
  • Public transport and Covid
  • Mental health

The report sets out the impact that the project had on the target audience, including how useful people felt the information and support they were given.
