Summary of report content

Healthwatch Sheffield report on the issues they heard about in feedback in March 2021.  During this month they heard from 71 people.

Thirty stories concerned GP surgeries – mostly positive.  Of those that had a less positive experience, they were more likely to have problems getting an appointment.

They heard about varied experiences of mental health services in March 2021, including concerns that a respite bed has been closed during the pandemic.

Several people had negative experiences of trying to make a complaint, including lack of acknowledgement.

They received overwhelmingly positive feedback about the roll out of the Covid-19 vaccine, including someone who was pleased that they could have a home visit to be vaccinated.

They heard very positive experiences of hospital care in March, but negative feedback about urgent care, including conflicting information about treatment.

Healthwatch Sheffield continue to hear about problems accessing NHS dentistry at the moment, an issue that they’ve raised with regional commissioners.

This month, they’ve heard some positive feedback about how services have adapted to the needs of people with sensory impairments.

Other issues raised in this report are problems for people with learning disabilities and a concern about Test and Trace.
