Summary of report content

Healthwatch Milton Keynes undertook an enter and view visit to Lakeview Lodge on 11 September 2025. They spoke to 16 people. The visit aimed to understand residents’ experiences, focusing on social engagement, physical activity, and communication needs.

The home was located in an attractive setting overlooking a lake.  It had good visitor parking.

The building had three floors with wide corridors, seating areas, and large windows. Facilities includes hair salon, private dining room, sunroom, and garden patio. Healthwatch noted that there was limited dementia-friendly signage; a noticeable odour on upper floors and the carpets showed wear.

Families feel residents are safe and well cared for; and there was good communication overall. There were some concerns about staff consistency and management visibility. An emergency was handled efficiently during visit.

There was a varied programme of activities on each floor.  The activity team were praised for enthusiasm and inclusivity.

Meals were well-presented and tailored to residents' preferences.  There was a calm dining atmosphere.  Minor issues were noted, including occasional delays in assistance during mealtime and limited diabetic options.

Residents are encouraged to personalize their rooms, choose clothing, and move freely around the home.
