Summary of report content

Healthwatch Liverpool undertook an announced enter and view visit to Brook View Care Home on 13 January 2025.  They spoke to 8 people.

Overall, Healthwatch felt that Brook View seemed to be a clean, calm and well-staffed environment during our short visit. There were lots of staff around including those from multiple specialisms and so they were able to provide complex care to residents. The location near to Aintree University Hospital means residents are also near to more advanced medical care with very little travel needed.

Brook View staff have clearly put effort in to making the home accessible for all. The use of accessible signage for navigation combined with the visual menus and activity boards means residents can understand and access the environment to the fullest.

The use of ‘You said, We did’ display boards, and the promotion of resident ambassadors speaks to staff who want to listen to what residents and families are saying, and willing to display this for all to see.

Healthwatch spoke to some staff members who felt that Brook View had improved during their time and were happy with the direction in which things were going.

Healthwatch didn't get to speak to as many residents as we would have liked. Although one resident had a negative view of his experience of the home, feedback provided by other residents and a family member was very positive with them praising staff and the environment at the home.
