Summary of report content

Healthwatch Nottingham and Healthwatch Nottinghamshire conducted a desk-based study of GP websites in December 2021 to see what information was provided for patients. They timed each website visit to 2 minutes and 30 seconds, to see if they could find vital information in a reasonably short period of time.

They found:

  • All practices had a phone number on their website
  • 84% provided an option of booking appointments online
  • Only 18% stated that people could book an appointment at reception
  • 91% included a clear offer of face to face appointments
  • 86% provided clear information about how face to face appointments or walk in services could be accessed
  • Almost all provided information about Covid-19

The report concludes with 5 recommendations about the content of GP surgery websites.
